A cross-industry technology fusion! We used Autodesk Generative Design software to create an adaptive connector bracket for robot-operated 3D scans of ancient structures. ReCap software and Dynamo helped us study traditional construction methods and enrich our restoration efforts. This report covers our process in Autodesk Fusion 360 software, including entering design parameters and extracting constraints from the historical site. It explains how we turned the bracket's requirements into criteria for rapid iteration and selection, quickly finding the best solution. It also explains how ReCap processed robot-collected point cloud data to investigate architectural principles and features of ancient buildings in Southern China. Finally, it describes how Dynamo converted these insights into automated building information modeling (BIM) scripting, bridging historical knowledge with modern technology for efficient restoration practices.

Designers often face the dilemma of unlimited options and a limited timeframe. AiCorb is an ambitious AI design tool made to address this issue. Established in 2017 as a collaboration between a top Japanese general contractor and a pioneering U.S. research institute, AiCorb currently focuses on facade study and 3D modeling, offering two key features: interpreting a designer's intent from sketch to design, then converting from design to building information modeling (BIM) via a Revit plug-in. As a result, designers can cut down their work time for a mid-sized building feasibility study from eight weeks to less than one week. This class will also explore how AiCorb possibly plans to implement a feedback system that will generate optimal facade designs based on engineering analysis simulation results from apps like Autodesk Forma software. This session will detail how to use Revit software and building information modeling (BIM) for complete load calculation with the help of API development, from power outlets to lighting fixtures and up to the main switchboard. In an underground railway station project, a total load of approximately 4,000 amps has been successfully calculated for the electrical system design. We understand there are difficulties to simultaneously use BIM for electrical engineering, 3D modeling, and 2D drawings in a single model. Challenging the deconstruction and decontamination of a former industrial site: the refinery of Dunkerque in France. From a huge data sets of 30 000 old plans and a dynamic scan of a 90Ha area, the low LOD Revit models were made manually but also automatically using IA with image recognition. The representations of the contamination and lithology is modelled with voxels and informed using interpolation scripts with Dynamo directly from georeferenced boreholes stored in excel datasheets. The aim of this BIM model is to create scenariis of depollution depending of what is located underground : pipes, concrete and pollutants.

Andrew Cameron, project manager with Hensel Phelps, will share his insights from pioneering 360-degree reality capture on his project, the $1.2 billion Harvey Milk Terminal 1 at the San Francisco International Airport, since 2016. He and his team of 16 field engineers have worked closely with HoloBuilder over the last three years to invent and build out many of the workflows and features that are essential on tens of thousands of construction sites around the world today, including 360-degree markups and the JobWalk app itself. He will discuss how to use 360-degree documentation to drive value on a billion-dollar project for the client, stakeholders, and his project team. He will also share his experiences of how to successfully partner with construction technology providers to build the technologies you always wanted. To highlight the team’s successful innovation partnership, he will reveal the latest co-developed solutions to speed up and even automate reality capture on projects.

The "Canal do Sertão Alagoano" is an important initiative of the Brazilian government that aims to combat drought by providing access to water for various purposes, such as rural and urban human consumption, livestock watering, and irrigation. The successful implementation of this project can serve as a model for other regions facing similar challenges. In this session, you'll learn more about the implementation of the BIM Execution Plan (BEP) in a 27 km section of an open channel design. We'll highlight the collaboration between the design and construction teams and the clients through a common data environment (CDE). We'll discuss the complexity of 3D modeling for open channels in AutoCAD Civil 3D software, the use of Subassembly Composer to automate channel sections with multilayered earth fill, and the use of self-adjusting earth embankments to accommodate different soil materials. We'll also cover the use of Dynamo for minor automation and Navisworks software for design simulation.

El Corte Ingles is the largest department store chain in Europe and one of the biggest real estate owners in Spain. Within a larger digital transformation strategy, the Real Estate area has embraced BIM methodology and in 2022 has embarked on the digitization of 20+ of their malls. Every year, a substantial investment is made in order to bring their assets up to the highest building management standards. BIM models provide now a single, up-to-date and reliable source to study and plan yearly investment and designs. In this case study we will take an in-depth look at our approach which has enabled us to model the existing assets in some 20+ centers and our biggest logistic platform in less than a year, taking advantage of point clouds and 360° pictures. We will showcase the hits and misses of this journey, where we have gone from zero BIM knowledge to managing more than 2.5M m2, including the transformation of 60K+ unique furniture items to Revit families.
