SAMSUNG C&T uses digital twins to optimize building operations. We have developed a digital twin with BIM and AI in an office building with a total floor area of 100,000 square meters, and we are utilizing it to operate the building. The basic functions are the Energy/Asset/Space Management, and Virtual Tours. In particular, the energy management function monitors building energy usage in real time. And we have developed 10 solutions for energy management that can save energy while maintaining the comfort of occupants in the building. These solutions are derived through AI-based machine learning models and optimization algorithms to provide real-time notifications to building operators for sustainable and optimized building energy management. Therefore, SAMSUNG C&T aims to provide efficient building operation and management services by simultaneously implementing digital spaces, going beyond the role of a construction company that constructs physical spaces.

It helps operations collect the capacity limits, real-time asset usage, and effectiveness.​ This is achieved by production planning and tracking, empowering interested parties to evaluate production efficiency and identify areas of congestion. Edwards' unique approach involves an extensive digital asset library and FlexSim-optimized processes, promoting lean and agile manufacturing and rapid enhancements in production, and boosting business performance. Using a novel digital-twin approach that effectively integrates its business processes enables Edwards to evaluate the impact its operations have on market trends and business cycles, and to support investment decisions in equipment, facilities, and workforce.

Utilities, retailers, hospital operators, towercos, and other companies may need to digitalize large portfolios with thousands of existing facilities to complete their digital journeys—either to fully benefit from building information modeling (BIM) in design and construction or as a first step for the creation of their digital twins. Those same companies typically have an inventory database that is either incorrect or incomplete, but that has value nonetheless, since it may be used to connect said assets with other enterprise solutions, including maintenance and operations management. In this technical instruction session, we will present a workflow for the end-to-end digitalization of a portfolio of facilities using a component-based approach. This workflow starts with any existing inventory, uses it in Autodesk Construction Cloud Assets and Forms to capture on-site data, then switches to Autodesk BIM Collaborate Pro software and Autodesk Docs software for the intelligent modeling of the facilities, and then again moves back to the Assets functionality for audit and validation.

From HRSD SWIFT Research Facility with Revit and GeoBIM integration, to Aurora Water BIM-based digital twin project using Autodesk Tandem, and several other large greenfield projects where Hazen is using ACC Design, Build, and Operate solutions. The building owner's Digital Twins include digital models of facilities & operations. They should be integrated. We share work to define owner FM requirements and scaleable methods to deliver FM data from capital projects using Autodesk products. We also integrate the VueOps platform, which uses Autodesk Forge, with an owner’s computerized maintenance management system. This owner seeks to find and view design, product, and O&M information about equipment holistically for incidence response and maintenance events, and eventually incorporate it with asset health and diagnosis tools. VueOps extracts and relates location, system, and equipment information from annotated CAD and BIM, to power ‘right information, right time’ search in a customized Forge viewer. We integrated the VueOps viewer and connected VueOps data with the owner’s computerized maintenance management system to bring BIM and project turnover data into an enterprise CMMS and manage changes between the Digital Twins.
