In this session, we'll explore creating a custom lifecycle assessment (LCA) pipeline for our international practice's complex needs. We'll tackle the challenges of traditional tools, which often falter in integrating with various project-specific building information modeling (BIM) standards and local requirements, and generally relegate LCA to a terminal project phase rather than using it in the design process. Our motivation to develop our own workflow arose from existing solutions being "black boxes" that fail to accommodate different levels of detail needed for design stages. Our pipeline not only offers flexible calculations, but it also aids in documenting and benchmarking construction systems. This development was achieved through collaboration within our design technologies team and extensive interactions with industry peers, resulting in a scalable, effective tool. Attendees will gain insights from our case studies and learn about our process, which improves efficiency and transparency in environmental assessments.

Daiwa House has been striving to achieve building information modeling (BIM) mandate in-house since 2017, and it has achieved many results, but not enough to maximize value. In order to create further business value and establish a solid foundation where the company can benefit from future technology innovations, we're evolving our data strategy and working with Autodesk Consulting on the Digital Daiwa House project. To achieve the goal, we're working on implementing a higher level of BIM maturity while increasing the maturity of the data required for construction projects. We're also working on the configurator as a mechanism to convert structured/standardized data into business value. The configurator links data throughout the project lifecycle and enhances the coordination of each stakeholder. In proportion to the maturity of BIM and data, capabilities in the configurator improve. We are aiming to achieve such an evolving configurator.

A cross-industry technology fusion! We used Autodesk Generative Design software to create an adaptive connector bracket for robot-operated 3D scans of ancient structures. ReCap software and Dynamo helped us study traditional construction methods and enrich our restoration efforts. This report covers our process in Autodesk Fusion 360 software, including entering design parameters and extracting constraints from the historical site. It explains how we turned the bracket's requirements into criteria for rapid iteration and selection, quickly finding the best solution. It also explains how ReCap processed robot-collected point cloud data to investigate architectural principles and features of ancient buildings in Southern China. Finally, it describes how Dynamo converted these insights into automated building information modeling (BIM) scripting, bridging historical knowledge with modern technology for efficient restoration practices.

Designers often face the dilemma of unlimited options and a limited timeframe. AiCorb is an ambitious AI design tool made to address this issue. Established in 2017 as a collaboration between a top Japanese general contractor and a pioneering U.S. research institute, AiCorb currently focuses on facade study and 3D modeling, offering two key features: interpreting a designer's intent from sketch to design, then converting from design to building information modeling (BIM) via a Revit plug-in. As a result, designers can cut down their work time for a mid-sized building feasibility study from eight weeks to less than one week. The Brazilian city of Curitiba was declared the smartest city in the world, according to the World Smart City Awards, a prize awarded by Fira Barcelona in Spain. This is considered one of the major honors in the areas of innovation and smart cities. This session will show participants the evolution of the building information modeling (BIM) process in Curitiba. We will especially look at BIM within the scope of the city's urban planning agency (IPPUC) and its executing body for structural works programs (UTAG)—with the implementation of the BIM laboratory (LaBIM PMC), the use of 3D models to present works to city residents, the interactions developed in conjunction with CIM (city information modeling), and the application of the models for the execution process of the works, mainly in relation to quality management, scope, and schedule.
