BIM 360 software, or the new Forma software system, is created to connect teams and data in real time, empowering project members to anticipate, optimize, and manage all aspects of project performance in a cloud-based platform. To provide even more flexibility and capability, the software is built on the Forge platform, which can assist anyone with customization or automation of certain tasks that are not built on the platform by default. In this class, we will demonstrate different tools and workflows that can automate some of the most tedious and repetitive manual tasks. You will also learn how to integrate the software with other platforms such as Microsoft Outlook, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Dropbox—or with files on premises—and more.

When planning a factory, many trades, project participants, and disciplines are involved. This presentation will show you an end-to-end digital process called the integrated factory model (IFM). The coordination of all project-relevant data is the basis of an end-to-end digital process and is largely responsible for the success of a project. A simple 3D construction space model gives each project participant their workspace. There, for example, the layout planner carries out process simulation and line planning with the Factory Design Utilities software. Due to the adjacent construction spaces, collisions with other layouts or the building equipment can be detected and eliminated at a very early stage. All data is continuously merged, checked, and adjusted in an overall coordination model in BIM 360 software.

The success story of how DRA GLOBAL an Engineering Service company in the Mining and Mineral Resource space transitioned to cloud collaboration. With basic BIM360 usage, and enough DOCS licenses we were able to “unlock” the sudden lockdown situation. A fast-track transition was required to service multiple projects at various stages of design and construction. Learn how to use the power of Autodesk Forma Connect, which allows users to create their own custom app integrations without the need to write code. In this class, we’ll discuss how to connect siloed data to integrated data to support efficient EPC delivery. Specifically, we’ll discuss various applications of the “recipes” (workflows) to extract files and metadata within the common data environment (CDE)—i.e., BIM 360, Autodesk Forma, and Autodesk Assemble—to move to platforms such as Aconex and Microsoft SharePoint, and comply with ISO 19650 requirements. Additionally, the extracted data can be used to automate creation of dashboards to monitor progress of design quantity takeoffs, construction installation, issues resolution, and most other data available via the Autodesk Forge APIs. Recipes can be used for a single project or at an account level (across several projects). The new Data Exchange service helps you unlock your data and gives you the flexibility to share the right data with the right stakeholders at the right time. Its flexible and powerful API allows you to access the granular data in exchanges and, given the structure of the data, it is also possible to quickly identify and get the difference between the versions of a shared data subset. In this class, we’ll have an overview of the concepts used by the Data Exchange to describe the data structure, and we’ll work with these concepts to explain how the data’s organized within an exchange container. We’ll discuss the current capabilities of the Data Exchange API as well as some future functionalities. Given its current capabilities, we’ll go through some workflows that best suit its use. To be fair, we’ll also see some cases where it might not be the right solution, and compare it with other APIs like the Model Derivative API, the BIM 360 API, and Autodesk Forma Model Properties API.
